Unlock with your fingerprint or face
Fingerprint on Android, Face ID or Touch ID on iPhone - instead of typing your vault password.
The Smile app can unlock your vault with your fingerprint or face instead of your vault password:

| Android | Android 11 or newer, with a fingerprint or face set up (“strong” biometrics) |
| iPhone | Face ID or Touch ID set up, and a passcode |
Turn it on
- Unlock Smile, then open Settings > Security.
- Turn on Unlock with fingerprint (on iPhone: Unlock with Face ID or Touch ID).
- Type your vault password once to confirm, then touch the sensor or look at your phone.
Next time Smile asks you to unlock, it asks for your fingerprint or face straight away. Tap Use vault password to type it instead.
How it’s kept safe
Your vault password is never stored. Smile keeps only the keys made from it, locked in your phone’s secure hardware - they come out only after a fingerprint or face check, every time.
RemarqueIt turns itself off if a new fingerprint or face is added to the phone (so someone else can’t add theirs), if you sign out, or if your vault password changes. Turn it on again in Settings.
