Licences and the shop

A licence gives one person one Smile product - for example Smile Hosting Growth, SmileMail Starter or a Power bundle (which covers Smile Hosting, Smile Connect, SmileMail and Smile VPS). Your organisation buys licences into a pool, then gives them to people.

Buy licences

1. On the dashboard, open Shop.
2. Add what you need to your basket - as many of each as you like.
3. Choose how to pay:
   • Card - a monthly subscription. Cancel it and those licences stop.
   • Credit - one month paid from your organisation’s credit, renewed from credit each month while there’s enough.
   • Free (Premium+ only) - up to 20 licences at a time, kept while you stay on Premium+.

Paid licences are ready to give out straight away.

Give licences to people

Open Licences, find the licence in Your licences and click Give to people. Tick who should get one. Each person gets one licence per product - anyone who already has that product is skipped.

To take one back, find the person under Who has what and click Take back. The licence goes back in your pool for someone else.

Give a licence to a group

Click Give a licence to a group, choose the licence and the groups. Everyone in the group gets one - and so does anyone who joins the group later. People who leave the group (or are suspended) hand theirs back automatically.

If you run out, Group licences shows how many people are waiting. They get theirs as soon as you buy more.

Tipp

To take a group licence off one person, take them out of the group. To stop it for everyone, click Remove next to the group licence.

What a licence does

Someone with a licence can sign in with Smile Business to that product, and their account there gets the plan the licence is for. A SmileMail licence also adds its storage to their own SmileMail mailbox.

Refunds and keys

Bought too many? The owner can refund unused licences within 30 days, back the way you paid. You can also turn spare licences into keys to sell to your own customers - see Refunds and licence keys.
