Refunds and licence keys
Refund licences you never used within 30 days, and turn spare licences into keys to sell to your customers.
Refund licences you didn’t use
If you bought licences and never gave them to anyone, the owner can refund them within 30 days of buying them. The money goes back the way you paid:
| You paid | You get back |
|---|---|
| By card | A refund to the same card (it can take 5-10 days to show), and your subscription goes down so you’re not charged for them again |
| With credit | Credit, straight away |
- Open Licences on the dashboard. Licences you can refund say so, with the last day you can do it.
- Click Refund next to the licence, choose how many, and click Refund.
You get an email confirming it. Refunded licences are gone for good.
ПримечаниеA licence that was ever given to someone - even if you took it back - or whose key was redeemed can’t be refunded. Free (Premium+) and gifted licences weren’t paid for, so there’s nothing to refund.
Sell licences with keys
You can turn licences you aren’t using into licence keys - like SB-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX - to sell or give to your own customers. Whoever redeems a key gets the plan on their own Smile account, for as long as you keep the licence. You keep paying for it as you do now.
- Open Licences and click Make keys next to a licence.
- Choose how many. Your keys appear straight away - copy them, or Download (CSV).
Your keys are always listed under Licence keys, with whether each one has been redeemed, and by whom.
| Key for | Your customer gets |
|---|---|
| Smile Hosting, Smile Connect or SmileMail | That plan on their Smile account |
| A bundle | Smile Hosting, Smile Connect and SmileMail at the bundle’s level |
Smile VPS licences can’t be made into keys.
How your customer redeems a key
They go to smilehosting.tech/redeem-key, sign in to their Smile account (or make a free one), type the key and click Redeem. They can also check what a key gives first at business.smilecorp.co.uk/redeem.
Cancelling a key
Until it’s redeemed, click Cancel next to a key - it stops working and the licence comes back to you (and can be refunded again if it qualifies). A redeemed key can’t be cancelled: it lasts as long as the licence does. If you stop paying for the licence, your customer’s plan ends too.
