Host a website
Put a website or web app online at its own address on smilehosting.tech.
A Website on Smile Hosting puts your site online at its own address, like my-site.smilehosting.tech. It can be a static site - plain HTML, CSS, JavaScript and images - or an app written in Node.js or Python.
Create a website
- Open your dashboard and go to Servers.
- Click + New server and give it a Server name.
- Choose Website as the Type.
- Pick a Framework:
- Static - HTML, CSS and JavaScript files. Nothing to install and no code running on the server.
- Node.js - an app that starts with
npm start, such as Express. - Python - an app that starts with
python app.py, such as Flask or FastAPI.
- Type the Subdomain you’d like -
my-sitegives youmy-site.smilehosting.tech. Leave it empty and we’ll pick one for you. The box tells you straight away if a name is taken or not allowed. - Choose a Location and click Deploy server.
A new static site comes with a simple starter page. Nothing is public until you press Deploy.
Your project page
Click your website in the server list to open its project page. At the top you’ll see its address, its status - Ready, Building or Offline - and three buttons:
- Visit opens your site in a new tab.
- Deploy puts your site live. Once it’s live the button says Redeploy - press it after you change your files.
- Stop takes the site offline. Visitors see a page saying the site isn’t running until you deploy it again.
The tabs underneath:
| Tab | What it’s for |
|---|---|
| Overview | A live preview, your address, framework and status, and your recent deployments |
| Deployments | Every deploy, redeploy and stop, with who did it and when |
| Logs | What your app prints while it runs - the first place to look when an app won’t start |
| Source | Your site’s files. Upload, edit and delete them here |
| Console | Run commands on the server |
| Settings | Change the address, framework, output folder and commands |
| Sharing | Let teammates help manage it - see Share a server with your team |
| AI | The AI server assistant |
