Set your password and connect
Choose your server's password, then sign in to it with Remote Desktop.
1. Choose your server’s password first
A new server doesn’t have a password you can use yet. You set it yourself:
- Sign in at vps.smilehosting.tech and click your server.
- Under Choose your password — do this first, enter a new password (12 or more characters) and confirm it.
- Click Set password. It works straight away.
BelangrijkNobody at Smile VPS ever sees this password, which is also why we can’t tell you it if you forget. Store it somewhere safe, like a password manager.
2. Copy the address
On your server’s page, under Remote Desktop, click Copy next to the address. It looks like rdp.smilehosting.tech:50123 - the number after the colon is your server’s own port, so keep the whole thing.
3. Connect
From Windows
- Press Win + R, type
mstscand press Enter. - Paste the address into the Computer box and click Connect.
- Sign in as Administrator, with the password from step 1.
- If Windows warns about the server’s certificate, tick Don’t ask me again and click Yes.
From a Mac, iPhone, iPad or Android
Install Microsoft’s free Windows App (previously Microsoft Remote Desktop) from your app store, add a PC with the address from step 2, and sign in the same way.
The SmileSupport account
As well as Administrator, your server has an account called SmileSupport. It’s how our team can help when you ask, without needing your password. Please don’t remove or change it - if you do, we may not be able to help you later.
