Power controls and status
Start, restart and shut down your VPS, and read its live stats.
Your server’s page on vps.smilehosting.tech shows its live state and lets you control its power, even when you can’t get in through Remote Desktop.
Power controls
| Button | What it does | Use it when |
|---|---|---|
| Boot | Turns the server on | It’s off |
| Restart | Restarts Windows cleanly | After updates, or if it’s slow |
| Shutdown | Asks Windows to shut down cleanly | You want it off for a while |
| Power Off | Cuts the power straight away, like pulling the plug | It’s frozen and won’t respond to anything else |
WaarschuwingPower Off doesn’t give programs a chance to save. Try Restart or Shutdown first, and only use Power Off when the server is truly stuck.
Status and statistics
The page shows the server’s Status, Uptime, CPU Usage and Memory Demand, updated live. If CPU sits near 100% or memory is full for a long time, something on the server is working very hard - check Task Manager once you’re connected, or consider a bigger plan.
Changing your Smile VPS website password
This is separate from your server’s own password. Once signed in to the website, go to Account in the menu and click Change password. The Account page is also where you set a username, change your email and turn on 2-step verification or passkeys - see Your Smile VPS account and security.
