Read and send email

Get your free address, then read and send mail in Webmail or the dashboard.

Get your address

  1. Go to mailing.smilehosting.tech/webmail and sign in with your Smile account.
  2. Type the name you’d like. You’ll see straight away whether it’s free.
  3. Click Get this address. That’s it - you can send and receive from [email protected] immediately.

You can have one personal address. Choose carefully - it can’t be renamed later, though you can add aliases.

Webmail

  • Inbox and Sent switch between received and sent mail. Unread messages are marked, with a count at the top.
  • Click a message to read it. Reply answers it; Delete removes it.
  • Write starts a new message: choose which of your addresses it comes From, fill in To and Subject, write it, and click Send.

Aliases in webmail

Open the menu in the top corner to see Your addresses. Aliases all land in the same inbox. Give one to a website instead of your real address - if it starts attracting junk, delete that alias and your other addresses keep working. When you reply to a message sent to an alias, the reply goes out from that alias.

Your organisation mailbox

If your organisation has given you a mailbox:

  1. Sign in at mailing.smilehosting.tech and open Dashboard.
  2. Your mailbox is shown at the top. If it says You don’t have a mailbox yet, ask your organisation’s admin to create one for you.
  3. Inbox lists mail you’ve received. Sent lists what you’ve sent, with the status of each.
  4. To write a message, use Compose: fill in To, Subject and Message, then click Send.

Groups you’re in are listed under Your groups. Your organisation mailbox and your personal address are kept separate - work mail stays in the dashboard, personal mail in Webmail.

Sending limits

  • Each mailbox can send up to 50 emails a day, to one person per message. The count resets at midnight UK time (1am during British Summer Time).
  • When you have 10 or fewer left, the compose box tells you how many.
  • On a very busy day SmileMail as a whole can reach its own daily limit. If that happens you’ll be told when you click Send, your message won’t be sent, and you can try again the next day.
Tip

Something in Sent marked as not delivered? The reason is shown next to it. If it doesn’t make sense, open a ticket and include it.
