Install Smile on a Chromebook
Turn on your Chromebook's Linux, then install the Smile .deb.
Smile runs on Chromebooks through ChromeOS’s built-in Linux. It’s the same app as on Windows and Linux, and it’s in beta.
1. Turn on Linux (once)
Go to Settings > About ChromeOS > Developers > Linux development environment and click Set up. It takes a few minutes.
ПримечаниеSchool and work Chromebooks may not allow Linux. If the option is missing or greyed out, ask whoever manages the Chromebook - or use Smile Auth on the web and the Chrome extension instead.
2. Download Smile
On auth.smilecorp.co.uk/download, open the Linux & ChromeOS card, choose ChromeOS and click Download for Chromebook (.deb).
Most Chromebooks have an Intel or AMD processor. Only pick ARM Chromebook if Settings > About ChromeOS > Additional details mentions ARM, MediaTek or Snapdragon.
3. Install and open it
- Open Files, find the
.debin Downloads and double-click it. - Click Install.
- Open Smile from the launcher’s Linux apps folder and sign in.
Smile updates itself, and every update is checked against Smile’s signature first.
Smile Connect on a Chromebook
A Chromebook’s screen can’t be shared with Smile Connect, but you can use one to connect to your other devices: open connect.smilecorp.co.uk in Chrome.
