Billing, your card and gift cards
See your subscriptions and invoices, change your card, cancel, and pay with a gift card.
Everything about paying for your VPS is on the Billing page - click Billing in the menu at the top once you’re signed in.
Your subscriptions
Each VPS is a monthly subscription. The Billing page shows each one with its price, its status and the date of your next payment.

| Active | Paid and running |
| Cancels (date) | You’ve cancelled. It keeps running until that date |
| Payment overdue | The last payment didn’t go through - update your card |
| Suspended - payment needed | The server is switched off until you pay, and deleted if it stays unpaid |
Change your card, get receipts or cancel
Click Manage card & billing, or Manage next to a subscription. This opens Stripe’s secure billing page, where you can:
- change the card you pay with
- update your billing name and address
- download invoices and receipts
- cancel a subscription - it stays active until the end of the time you’ve already paid for
We never see or store your full card number - Stripe looks after it. The Billing page shows the card type, the last four digits and the expiry date, so you know which card is on file.
Your invoices are listed on the Billing page too, with View and PDF links.
AvisoWhen a cancelled VPS reaches its end date, it’s switched off and later deleted. Copy anything you want to keep off the server before then - a deleted server can’t be recovered.
Gift cards
Smile Hosting gift cards can be spent on Smile VPS too.
Redeem one
- Go to Billing, or to the Gift Cards page while you’re signed in.
- Type the code - it looks like
XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX- and click Redeem.
The amount is added to your gift card balance and taken off your VPS payments automatically. If your balance is more than a payment, the rest is used on the next one. Every code you redeem is listed under Balance history.
NotaOnly gift cards with a money value work on Smile VPS. Discount codes - a percentage off - are for Smile Hosting plans only. Each code can be used once.
Buy one for someone
- Go to Gift Cards and choose an amount.
- Enter the Recipient email and, if you like, a message.
- Click Buy gift card and pay through Stripe.
They’re emailed the code once the payment has gone through. Gift cards never expire.
